- What are polarized sunglasses?
Polarized lenses are designed to eliminate the glare that is responsible for eye fatigue and decreased vision. Tifosi polarized polycarbonate lenses offer exceptional strength compared to acrylic polarized lenses.
So how does it work? When light is reflected from shiny surfaces, it is usually horizontally polarized. The horizontal polarized light is blocked by vertically oriented polarizers in the lenses.
You may wish to go to this tifosi technology page for more detailed information: http://www.tifosioptics.com/fototec.html
- What are Fototec lenses?
Tifosi Fototec lenses are blended with microscopic photochromes that darken in color when in contact with UV rays. Tifosi Fototec lenses are polycarbonate and offer 100 percent UVA/UVB protection. Each of the five lens tints will darken in about 12 seconds and return to their original color in about two minutes.
Tifosi also offers two polarized Fototec lenses that combine the versatility of polycarbonate Fototec lenses with the glare eliminating properties of polarized lenses. Tifosi offers two polycarbonate Polarized Fototec tints, Smoke and Open Water Green. These tints also darken in about 12 seconds and return to their original state in two minutes.
- What is UV protection?
Ultraviolet (UV) radiation is part of the natural radiation found in the invisible light spectrum. There are 3 ranges of UV: UVA, UVB and UVC. Prolonged exposure to UVA and UVB rays may increase the possibility of significant eye damage, including temporary discomfort to long-term vision problems such as cataracts. All Tifosi Optics lenses offer 100% UVA and UVB protection.
- Is lens color important?
Yes! Tifosi offers a wide variety of lens tint options to suit every personal preference and outdoor lighting condition.
Grey/smoke/brown lenses show the least amount of color distortion and are perfect for use in high lighting conditions.
AC (All conditions) red lenses offer an enhanced view in cloudy or foggy weather. AC red lenses provide contrast in mid to low lighting conditions.
Yellow lenses offer an extremely bright view in overcast or rainy conditions.
Clear lenses provide the same amount of UVA and UVB protection as tinted lenses, but enable the wearer to have protection at night, or other extremely low lighting conditions.
The GT (Golf/Tennis) lens has a greenish tint that is known for its object illumination properties. This lens enhances the wearer's ability to pick up ball in flight motion.
The EC (extreme contrast) lens is ideal for situations where high contrast is a must, such as on the golf course or picking up the lines of a single track. This purple lens filters out the hazy blue light spectrum that is responsible for optical blurring and distortion.
